Eggcitingly Simple!

Well... My title says it all. Sometimes it's so nice to have a simple dinner of eggs. They are simply perfect! A little over kill on the word simple...sorry, but really they are simple. Simple to cook and simple to eat. Add butter, salt, pepper to the skillet and... Simply Yummy!

When things get a little busy...

Get simple.

Just a Dusting

It was a beautiful morning to wake up to. The colors at sunrise were inspirational! Sorry, I know my photo doesn't quite capture it's essence.

I'm thankful the yard and wheat were given a slight drink with the dusting of snow.

Finally it's cold! Well it is January...
Don't you love the crunchy crunch when you step out in the snow? Winter makes me want to add hot chocolate mix to my coffee. Yum.

Hope you were able to enjoy the first snow of 2012!

Crunching away,

Ranch Day

Today is Sunday...
A day of Worship,
Friends,
&
Fellowship.
I love Sundays!

Here is my morning smile...
It happens every Sunday when we get home from Church.  Maybe this happens to you, too...
My keys are buried at the bottom of my purse and I have to wait for Handsome Man to come to the rescue and unlock our door.  It's a small thing, but a nice thing and it makes me smile.

After lunch it's time to move the cattle...
ladies in waiting...
The girls are good to wait for Handsome Man to come to their rescue and open the gate to the trailer so they can enjoy their new home.   Can't you see how excited they are?  Checkin' out the new spot.

Oh, yeah!  It was pretty tight quarters in that trailer and they are happy to be out.
It's no wonder that (occasionally) we have cattle out.
They have to be confused as to where they are supposed to be as often as they are moved.
And the grass is greener...I'm just sayin'

He smiles...

Go Green!
This is a solar powered thingie that keeps the hotwire doing it's job of keeping the cattle in the field.
Handsome Man says it's a solar powered fence... again, I've forgotten the technical term.
Anyway, it works.
I've told you, I'm not a techie!

an attraction on the farm...
This is an old cattle chute that has been replaced with a portable cattle chute.
I think this one has so much more character.

Notice who gets to shut the gate,
and who's waiting in the heated pickup.

Later in the afternoon I spy Handsome Man at work again clearing some brush in the pasture.
He's always busy!
I'm getting practice with my camera.

We ended the day by checking on the ladies in waiting; ones due to calve.
Did you see the moon tonight?!
It was amazing!

Saturday

I just love Saturday!
When I was little it meant cartoons-Bugs Bunny, and The Jetsons-in the morning and playing outside for the rest of the day until Mom called you in for supper...
Now, it means a day for myself. Today it meant going to a quilt store with a friend. I am very fond and
comfortable to be among bolts of material; especially if you have a friend to share it with. You stand back and gaze at the many hues and you become suddenly aware of all the colors we have available to create a work of love; or maybe something for yourself. There are rules for shopping for just the right material-Touching each and every bolt is mandatory to really appreciate all the fabrics and their stories. Yes, they have much to say. After at least an hour or more (I don't wear a watch-and there is a reason for that) touching, pulling out bolts, carrying them throughout the store, & listening too; my friend and I finally make our choices and check out. Oh, then you walk back through for a final eye on the ones you thought about...then you leave. Happy and satisfied with our choices. I came home with one new project and material to allow me to finish another. Oh boy, it's time to sew! Well almost...

It's time for lunch! You always work up an appetite while shopping for material. Cheeseburgers and the most delicious onion rings are the plan. They are called mini onion rings-they look like skinny strings of batter covered onion. That's the only skinny thing about them. Yum! Good friend, good food, = good time!

On the drive home I enjoy this beautiful Oklahoma winter day. One, it's 56 degrees out, WOW! Two, it's January! I check out the winter trees. Have you noticed how they resemble pin and ink etchings against the clear sky; nature's art. Gotta love the simplicity!

Speaking of simplicity...sometimes we forget to stop and enjoy the view on the road home. Do it.
The road home...

Happy New Year, 2012!

New Year's Eve:
Before I go forward I have to go back-
At the Car Wash with Handsome Man...you would think you just pull in and let the Wash do it's thing. No...(there is a science to really getting a good car wash) you pull in and open your door slightly so the running boards will poke out to get the full benefit of the wash. I notice this procedure as I'm using the time to check messages. When I ask about this I'm told that he's getting the running boards clean. Now this takes really good timing (which I'm sure I wouldn't have and a real catastrophe would occur-like losing the door and getting an unexpected shower.)
You've got to love how guys think!
After a successful car wash experience-which the running boards on my side are not near as clean, just so you know. We head out for a great dinner with dear friends. Party animals we are not, we are home in time to watch Dick Clark's Rockin' Eve and the ball drop. We wish each other a Happy New Year and go to sleep. Farmers go to bed early!

2:39 AM
The phone rings- these calls are never good. This one wasn't either. Someone had set hay bales on fire north of our home. Handsome Man calls the fire department and heads out. I stay back to hold down the fort and stay in a heated house. I took a picture from the house, it was quite a blaze! We are so grateful to our fire fighters, they're night was cut short, too.

So much for a short nights sleep.

We put the Christmas deco away this eve; actually we started this afternoon. We took a dinner break-Yum! I made a Black-eyed Pea baked dip. Got to have our black-eyed peas to bring in the new year. It was delicious, try PW's Zannie's Black-eyed Pea Dip. I've added a photo. After dinner we finished with the clean up. Handsome Man started the time honored tradition of carrying the boxes up to the attic. I finally offered to help when he had almost finished. After the 20 millionth trip-well maybe not quite that many, but it was quite a few-I smiled at his positive attitude and patience with all the stuff he puts up with just to make me smile. He's a great guy!
