Tomorrow is Monday...

Well...the chocolate cake was delivered and the weekend began.
I made the lemon cake~it flopped.
So...Handsome Man made a trip to town for me for new supplies. (I was in my Saturday clothes and they aren't town clothes!). Any way...the second attempt was successful. It's special purpose was for Handsome Man's Mom. We took her out to dinner and back for cake & cards to celebrate her birthday. It was a nice way to end the weekend.
Hope your's was a good one. too!

Hmmmmm ...

Good Evening!
I love Thursdays because of the promise of Fridays and a weekend coming!

We have new baby calves~well Handsome Man has them... It is one part of farming I really like~so I claim them, too. Only let me be specific-I don't do much to help out with them except to say, "Ah, aren't they cute!" and take pictures. Handsome Man took these photos for me since I haven't gone out to see them for myself. I am expecting a ride to see them this weekend. (See why weekends are great!)

I'm in the baking mood for this weekend. Two cakes are on the agenda: first, a chocolate then a lemon. The chocolate is for a fund raiser in our community and the lemon is for my mother in law. We're celebrating her birthday this weekend. I've got the recipe for the chocolate one listed. It's soooooo yummy and really chocolatety and extra easy!
Oh...I use a chocolate butter cream frosting just in case it's not chocolatety enough for you :). Is chocolatety a word???? Maybe just for chocolate lovers like me!

Though it's evening I'm sharing a pic of mornings by the lake ~ oh, on the farm.

Recipe: Preheat oven 350 degrees
1 chocolate cake mix
1 small box of instant chocolate pudding
1 small box of instant vanilla pudding
4 eggs
2/3 cup of canola oil
1 1/3 cups cold water
Dash of cinnamon (I love cinnamon so I put in 2 dashes)

Mix well. Add 12 oz milk chocolate chips. Bake in a bundt pan for 1 hour.
Allow to cool and apply icing.

Delicious! Enjoy!

Chocolatety yours,

Sweet!

Handsome Man surprised me with a corsage for Easter Sunday. I was delighted! It was perfect with my new outfit~ blues, greens, yellow daisies and white roses.

Time with our Church Family, (everybody looked so nice), Fellowship, Annual Egg Hunt and lunch with the family was the agenda for today. What a glorious day!
And, yes, the prize egg was found!
I loved watching all the Grands with their baskets racing around the yard; we have a special section for the younger hunters (so they don't get run over- Handsome Man's family is competitive).

Hope your's was a Blessed day, too!

Projects...

What a fun Saturday! It's late so I'll make it quick~however neither project was quick and one is still in progress...

I spent the first part of the day at an embroidery class learning new things I can do (in my spare time). Sewing is a calming activity. Ahhhhh I love the process of piecing and seeing it come together into a whole. Below is the project under construction. I love the colors~oh, yeah!

The second half was spent doing my other calming activity ~ making Grandma's dinner rolls. Yum! It's the process I like~mixing, kneading, watching them rise, baking and eating one fresh from the oven! Quality Control you know :)

Just so you know Handsome Man stayed busy today~ farming until he was rained out and then taxes. Hmmmmm I like mine better.

Loving the process of the projects!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! It's all around...Communities will celebrate with an Annual Easter Egg hunts. Baskets and children will be ready and waiting! All that excitement for a hunt that lasts about 2 minutes (and that's stretching it). On Sunday, families will gather for dinner following Church Celebrations.
Yep, us too! I'm taking my Grandma's recipe for homemade dinner rolls to our family dinner. Wow! I love spending time with Handsome Man's family and they are always so generous to include my Mom, too. One of my favorite parts is the annual Egg Hunt. Rain or shine, rainboots or high heels (no, the guys just wear their shoes) all the grands get involved. The Prize Egg will be up for grabs this year...I wonder who it will be????

I hope you have a wonderful holiday and spend the day with your loved ones. And the Easter Bunny is good to you!

Oh, by the way...take time to seek out the new growth. I'm sharing a few with you from my yard. Yes! I stepped out of the sunroom. :)

Easter Greetings!

Projects

I'm working on a project, a project, a project. I'm working on a project and soon you will see the results. Oh by the way, did I mention I really like blues and greens????
I also really like to spend time touching fabrics and Batik's are among my favorites. They're so fluid in their shades. Happy Fabric! Happy Sewing! I love putting them together and seeing the finished project.
TBSL...To be shared later :)

Rainbows and Promises

This morning on my drive in to town I saw a rainbow. I've always loved them and the perfect hues they share. As a young girl I belonged to the Rainbows, and was taught of the promises and gifts a rainbow represents. Though I am a far cry from a country girl - I do take pride in being a small town girl. I love that the open spaces around me allow me the opportunity to be blessed with rainbows in the morning.

Driving home each day I am surrounded by wheat or corn fields. I am especially fond of green wheat fields. As I mentioned yesterday ~ green is one of my fav colors. :)
Today I noticed something that Handsome Man and another very special man, I'll refer to him as John Deere Man, would really make them smile. Our wheat is heading out! As you know I'm not too country- but the important men that are and have been in my life are. And seeing the heads rising up for the rain and sun really makes me smile just knowing they (HM & JDM) are! Smiling, that is. The promise of a healthy crop!

Spring and Dirt

It's one of my favorite times of the year~I love all the green! In fact~ three of my color fav's are blue (rain), yellow (sunshine and roses), and green (pastures and the smell). I love the smell of green, mmmmmmmm.

I spent this past weekend with my daughter's family. I had some Nana Time at a T-Ball game! It was the best!
If you haven't been or it's been a long time since you have~~go! You won't regret it, you'll really see just how wonderful the beginning game of baseball is. There was a lot of playing with the dirt at the bases; and sliding across the grass or rather diving for the ball. Boys! Of course watching my grandson could have been a huge factor in my delight of the game!

Handsome Man stayed around and kept the farm running... Attached is a pic of the last pass. (In fact a lot of my pictures are of dirt and mud... another Spring in the country factor.) You'll notice a lot of dirt! I love how he can still play in the dirt and call it work! Really...it is work...he's out there giving it his all and loving every minute of it. You've got to admire and love his tenacity to get the job done well; at least I do! Because you won't see me out there~my idea of outside is the sunroom :)

Yep...more dirt -- I'm seeing a connection :).
