The Menu
What was on your menu for the Fourth of July?
The usual cookout menu was on the list for us.
Handsome Man grilled the hamburgers,
On the side~(condiments, lettuce, pickles, onions, and my friend's home grown tomatoes sliced)
Mom B made the baked beans,
Mom C made the chocolate sheet cake, (she's got this down, Yum!)
Handsome Man's brother brought homegrown slice tomatoes, cherry tomatoes and his famous yummy apple crisp,
My friend also brought the yummiest black bean salad,
~if you like tomatoes, avocados, corn, black beans, & fresh cilantro
You'll love this!

you should be...

And last, but certainly not the least!
Home Made Ice Cream
Oh, Baby!
The process begins with cooking the custard,
6 eggs
3 cups sugar
1 Tblsp flour
1 pt milk
dash salt
cook till slightly thick and bubbly
(the secret is medium heat & stirring constantly)
No Scorching allowed!
After it cools,
Hand it over to your ice cream maker
(mine is Handsome Man)
they pour it into the freezer tin,
mix in:
2 pts cream, milk, 2 Tblsp vanilla and a drop or two of lemon juice.
He then freezes it into the yummiest of yummies,
Vanilla Ice Cream!
Please note: Handsome Man has been training for years with
this White Mountain freezer,
& ... John Deere Man, my Dad.
He would be so proud.
Summer lovin'

I have to get this black bean recipe, Gina!!! It looks SO GOOD!!! I'm heading out to a post-4th-of-July get together tonight, complete with fireworks! This couple have a fireworks stand between Owasso and Claremore. He is a retired Tulsa firefighter and she is a friend from school. We all bring our own lawn chairs and a "to-share" snack and enjoy the evening. This salad thing looks de-lish!! :)
